subtraction
Hey :) has anyone tried teaching subtraction to their classes yet? i'm trying to brainstorm ways in which i can relate music to subtraction in a second and third grade LAD class. So far i've come up with counting how many beats each note lasts for two different notes, then seeing how many more beats the longer one had, but this sounds more complicated than just showing them subtraction without the music. I've also thought about having the kids count how many different notes i play in one easy "mini-piece" and then in another uncomplicated "mini-piece" and having them subtract those, but these ideas sound a little too complicated.
Any suggestions?
